Life expectancy in the USA for females is 81.2 years; for males, it's 76.4 years. The rise in men's life expectancy may be explained, for example, by the fact that men's smoking has been steadily diminishing since the early 1960s.

The most common causes of death among the elderly are cardiovascular diseases. Other causes in the statistics are malignant neoplasms and cerebrovascular diseases. Alzheimer's disease is becoming more and more common with the aging population, and its effect also grows as a death cause.

Maximum human lifespan? Are there any limits?

Although some of the previous projections suggest that mortality can not be reduced at the current rate in Western countries for a very long time, so far it has continued to decline all the time, and as a result, life expectancy has increased.

The chronological age tells the person's age in years, months, and days. Biological age means the physical and mental state in which the person actually is - in a sense, human ability to function. The concept is not scientific, but is determined by comparing the condition of a person to another's condition. Its purpose is to attract people to find out what kind of lifestyle choices they can influence on their well-being.

How is biological age tested?

The tests are largely queries where respondents are asked about lifestyle, such as smoking, alcohol consumption, eating and exercise habits. In addition to this, we look at family relationships, general attitude, sleeping and experience of happiness. In some cases, blood pressure and heart rate measurement may also be included.

How reliable is the life expectancy test?

Comprehensive and research-based tests produce on the population level basically similar results as the scientific studies used in their production. Instead, using such a test for predicting the life of a single person is not suitable. Their purpose is to energize and guide their citizens to healthy lifestyles and hopefully for a long and happy life.
